Upgrading Ubuntu 12.10 - Quantal Quetzal and Review

Its interesting to find yet another upgrade and a new release from Ubuntu team. And this time it is versioned as 12.10 also called "Quantal Quetzal" So here is the step by step sequence how you can upgrade your existing Ubuntu OS to the new 12.10. But why an upgrade? The new Ubuntu promises a new Linux kernel, which is more optimized interms of performance. For example my home laptop is an Intel SOLO processor, which lacks performance. The only advantage I get is its long battery charge. So the overall GUI is much more fluid, and much more optimized Linux Kernel, hence I badly need such an upgrade. How to upgrade from Ubuntu Oneiric Ocelot (11.10) to Ubuntu Precise Pangolin (12.04)

This guide shows how you can upgrade your Ubuntu Oneiric Ocelot (11.10) desktop and server installations to Ubuntu Precise Pangolin (12.04).  Start the Update Manager ( System -> Administration -> Update Manager ) or if you use Ubuntu Unity GUI, then you can start Upgrade Manager via "Ubuntu Icon" (Dash Home) -> More Apps -> System ->   Update Manager The Update Manager should show that a new distribution release (12.04) is available.  So kindly click on the Upgrade button to start the distribution upgrade. A window with the release notes for 12.04 comes up. Click on Upgrade again. The upgrade tool is now being downloaded. Afterwards, type in your password. Finally after that click on Start Upgrade to finally begin with the upgrade process. Now you can see the new upgrade packages are now being downloaded and installed.
